I am Ruwan Wathukarage, a commercial barrister and a Nationally Accredited Mediator based in Sydney, Australia. With over 16 years of experience in the Dispute Resolution Industry, I have dedicated myself to honing my skills and knowledge to provide the best possible service to my clients since 2008.

Since 2009, I have conducted more than 1,000 mediations in all areas of law. Throughout my dispute resolution career, I have learned that every dispute, no matter how bad, presents an opportunity for resolution, creativity, and growth for yourself and your businesses.

My extensive experience has led me to develop a unique client-centric process. This process is designed to accommodate emotions, conflict dynamics, legal issues, business needs, and any other factors that parties may want to consider. It resolves the conflict, creates new opportunities, and adds value.

The process can move disputing parties from the Nash Trap to the Nash Equilibrium. The Nash Equilibrium is a self-enforcing agreement, meaning that once the parties reach an agreement, they don’t need any external means of enforcement. When parties are at a Nash Equilibrium, they have no desire to move because they’ll be worse off if they do.

In my experience, 95% of civil litigation disputes can be resolved through mediation. Properly mediated, more than 70% can reach the Nash Equilibrium point and not only resolve the dispute but also add value to parties and businesses.
